Hide Imperfections

Concealer is more dense than foundation, allowing fuller coverage of
trouble spots and hyperpigmentation (red areas). It can be used over
foundation or on it own, and has greater staying power. Remember, a
little goes a long way!

1. Since the skin under your eyes is more transparent, it tends to
look dark, especially at the inner corner near the bridge of the nose.
To even out the tone, concealer is a must. Using liquid concealer,
gently pat over dark under-eye circles (don't sweep it across the
entire area), then blend with your ring finger.

2. To cover trouble spots and imperfections, apply a thicker cream
concealer onto the blemish or flaw. Then lightly press with a makeup
sponge.

Key Tip: Choose the shade of your concealer carefully. When testing
out shades, pick one that matches your skin tone or one shade lighter.
It helps to use a mirror outdoors to see how shades look on your skin
in natural light.

Key Tip: Prepare your skin with a light SPF moisturizer before
applying concealer for a smoother application.

How To Get A Natural Look (using make-up)

Natural Look

1. Apply foundation to your cheeks, forehead, and chin using a
foundation brush, sponge, or clean fingertips. Blend the foundation
all the way to your natural hairline with long, light strokes.

2. Continue blending over the jawline and onto your neck to achieve a
natural, seamless look. Check your face and neck in natural light to
make sure the foundation is completely blended in all areas.

3. If under-eye circles or red spots remain, do not add more
foundation; it can look heavy and cakey. Instead, try a concealer.

Key Tip: Choose the shade of your foundation carefully. When testing
out shades, pick one that matches the tone of your jawline exactly. It
helps to use a mirror outdoors to see how shades look in natural
light.

Key Tip: Begin by applying a small amount of foundation then increase
amount to achieve the degree of coverage that suits your skin.

Key Tip: For daytime, mix your foundation with a light SPF moisturizer
before applying for a smoother, more sheer application.

Prep Your Canvas (Face) Before Applying Make-up

To prepare a smooth canvas for your makeup, always start off with
clean, moisturized skin.

You'll find that your makeup glides on and blends more easily.

1. Keep your skin free of buildup by using a gentle cleanser in the
morning and at night. When cleansing your face, do so gently in upward
motion stokes - do not tug, pull or scrub too hard to prevent
irritation.

2. Freshen up your skin with a toner containing ingredients that suit
your skin type.

3. Indulge your skin and keep it hydrated with a moisturizer that is
compatable with your skin type. Make sure your daytime moisturizer
contains SPF to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays.

4. Treat yourself to an at-home-facial 2 to 3 times a week. Use a mild
cleanser, then exfoliate with a gentle scrub that contains exfoliants
that are round and non-abrasive.

5. Apply a facial mask after exfoliating. Rinse off thoroughly and get
a good night's sleep!

Key Tip: Even when you're steering clear of the sun, or it appears to
be a cloudy day, always be sure your makeup foundation or moisturizer
contains SPF 15 or higher.

How To Lips

How To Get The PrrrrrrFect Lips:

Shape up your lips
Lining your lips is important for creating plump, noticeable lips.

Applying lipliner is not only a great way to define and accentuate the
shape of your lips, but also to keep your lipstick from feathering.

1. Begin applyling lipliner at the center of your natural upper lip
line to define the bow then work toward the outer corners to complete
the line. (picture item A)

2. Start at one corner of your bottom lip then follow your natural lip
line all the way to the other corner.

Key Tip: Choose a lipliner that matches your lipstick or a flesh tone
shade for a soft, natural look.

Key Tip: To get plumper, pinker looking lips, do not touch up by
drawing a hard lip line; smudge it so lips look fuller! For a more
dramatic fullness, choose a lipstick shade with a hint of frost.

Key Tip: To avoid lipstick on your teeth, put your index finger in
your mouth and then draw it out slowly with your mouth closed. What
you see on your finger is what would have ended up on your teeth!

Perfecting your pout

1. Apply color onto the center of your lips, blending up and out to
the lip line working towards the corners. (picture item B)

2. For longer lasting color, gently blot with tissue, reapply lipstick
and blot again.

3. For evening, remember to select a lipstick one or two shades deeper
than your daytime color.

Key Tip: For a creamy effect, apply a lip balm to lips before applying
lipstick.

Key Tip: For a matte effect, apply lipstick then blot gently with tissue.

Key Tip: For a sheer effect, apply lip balm. Gently dot a small amount
of neutral color lipstick across lips, then smooth out.

Key Tip: For a glossy effect, apply lipstick then finish with a clear
or nuetral color gloss coat for a moist, seductive shine. Remember,
the more coats you apply, the more shine so turn up the volume!

Want Smooth Lips?

Getting those smooth, soft, and supple lips, By doing these Key Tips.

Key Tip: For smooth, soft lips, take a clean damp washcloth and gently
rub lips for 60 seconds before applying lipstick.

Key Tip: For touch-ups during the day or night, carry a soft
toothbrush in your handbag or makeup kit. Be sure to brush your lips
gently.

Key Tip: Apply a lip balm or conditioner throughout the day to keep
lips hydrated and protected from the sun's harmful rays.

About Marie Denee- The Owner and The Curvy Fashionista
Experienced in retail for over ten years, working in various retail
stores as a stylist, fashion expert, or assistant manager, Marie Denee
lassoed her life experiences both studied and learned to bring her
dream into fruition.

While working in retail, she observed the lack of fashionable options
– the contemporary, highly fashioned, impeccably fitting, high quality
fits that work for a woman's curves. Shopping became an art- learning
how to sniff out the latest designers that "get it."

Working in retail exposed Marie Denee to the evidence that she was not
alone, which at times was a relief but even more a frustration. She
often questioned, "If there are women out here like me, why aren't
designers catering to our needs?"

Fast forward to her post graduate days in college and her entre to
store management, Marie Denee learned about the inner workings of
retail and how choices are made to clothe the modern day fashionista.
Marie Denee dedicated her Masters to research what was available and
who was available in the Plus Size industry to answer OUR plea.

Thus, The Curvy Fashionista was born. After completing her studies,
Marie Denee set out to share with all the Curvy.Confident.Chic.
Fashionistas she could reach that "we CAN don the latest and greatest
of trends, fashions, and styles that are made with US in mind!"

The idea of the boutique was ignited by her life's dreams and
experiences, fueled by her blogging escapades through The Curvy
Fashionista, and revved by her passion for Curvy.Confident.Chic. Plus
Size fashion.

Industry Tip Saturday: Learn The Lingo of The Industry

Baby Dolls,

Everyday my Modeling Agency get calls by semi-professional-wannabe models and talent that do not know the lingo of the industry.

When speaking with them, you can tell they think modeling is a way to make quick money, or they've been told their so cute. It's more to this industry than that and for the people who think these things WILL NOT GET FAR!

You have to learn the craft, be the craft, eat the craft, sleep the craft and prepare yourself. More than ever study the looks, trends, angles and the industry as well as the terms.

I've compiled a list of NTK (Need To Know) terms of the modeling, fashion and talent industry.

So grab a pen or print out the whole list, if you wanna.

Learn The Lingo:

FASHION & ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY Terminology

Advertising Agency: A company that oversees the direction of an ad campaign. Normally they are responsible for hiring photographers, producers and art directors.

Agency: A company that promotes talent in exchange for a commission on talent earnings. Agencies usually help talent by recommending quality photographers and educating the talent about the business.

Agent: A person who helps arrange bookings and aides in the promotion of talent he/she represents.

Art Director: One who works on the set of a photo shoot and develops the overall “look” of the finished product.

Assignment: A shoot for which talent is hired.

Booking Manager/ Booking Department: An agency employee who acts as a “go between” the client and talent. He or she will provide you with all necessary information, if and when you are requested for a casting call or booking.

Booking A CONFIRMED assignment for which you will be paid to have your picture taken. See Tentative Booking

Brings: Basic wardrobe from your closet, which you may be requested to bring to a booking.

Call Time: The time at which talent MUST be at the job/booking. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!

Cancellation: If the client cancels a confirmed booking within 24 hours of your call time, usually you will still be paid the full fee. One exception would be in the case of a Weather Permit. If the client cancels a confirmed booking within 48 hours of your confirmed call time, you will be paid 50% of the full fee.

Casting Call: In many cases, before a booking is confirmed, prospective talent may be asked to attend a studio casting call for a “look see”. Most casting calls take 10 to 30 minutes. A Diamond Productions Modeling & Talent Agency, LLC booker will provide you with as much lead time as possible (usually 24 to 72 hours) if you are requested by a client or photographer for a casting call.

Client: The advertising agency, company, or photographer that hires talent.

Commercial Photographer: A photographer who specializes in taking pictures for the purpose of advertising.

Composite/Comp Card/ Zed Card: A printed card approx. 6x8 or 8x10 that displays a variety of pictures of talent along with his/her name, size, and measurements.

Direct Booking: When a client or photographer wishes to hire talent without contacting the Talent Agency that represents them. THIS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES!

Food Stylist /“Home Ecc: A person who specializes in food preparation for photography.

Hair and Make-up Artist: One or two people that specialize in working with photographers. Talent may or may not be required to do their own “hair and make-up”for a booking. Talent is notified of this prior to the job. If this is the case, talent must arrive at the booking “camera ready”. Having their own make-up on and hair combed.

Go-sees: Where you go to a local agency, company or client. At a go-see you could be asked to walk, read a script or speak about your goals as a model or talent.

Head Shot: A “close up” printed picture approx. 8x10 that displays talents “head and shoulders” and includes their name.

Life Style: Describes the natural and realistic feeling a photograph should have, without looking too stiff or posed.

Location: Anytime a booking is not at a photographer’s studio. This could be inside or outside.

Photo Shoot/Shooting: Time or place where photos are taken.
Photographer’s Assistant The person employed by a photographer to help out with lighting, film and photo equipment.

Portfolio / Book: A binder which holds all of the talent’s photographs.

Print Media: The intended format(s) in which your image will appear (i.e. magazine or newspaper ad, billboard, brochure, catalog, etc.).

Print modeling: Modeling related to the publishing of still photographs (as opposed to commercials or films).
Release A form that is signed at the end of a booking or photo shoot. The talent signs this to allow the client legal use of his/her image. The Diamond Productions Modeling & Talent Agency, LLC release stipulates unlimited usage (see **"Usage Rights") of the talent's likeness only for the original product or service for which the shoot was performed.
Set The area where a photographer takes pictures.

Stock Photography: Stock photography is the business of licensing photo shoot images. Stock shoot images can be used and reused to advertise different products and services

Studio Manager: The person employed by a photographer to run their office, schedule assignments, hire models and stylists.

Stylist: The person/persons on set responsible for talent wardrobe.

Sweep / Backdrop: The paper or fabric used as the background for a photograph. Sweeps can be very fragile and expensive so it is important to walk on a sweep only when instructed to by the photographer.

Tear Sheets: Pages from printed material such as magazines featuring the image in circulation (as opposed to prints given by photographers). Tear sheets show that a particular person has experience and the ability to work well as talent. These are also called tears. Diamond Productions Modeling & Talent Agency, LLC candidates are responsible for getting their own tear sheets, which may require calls to photographers and clients.

Tentative Booking: Before an assignment is confirmed, you possibly will be put “on hold” for a period of 24 to 72 hours, during which time the client may decide if you are the right model for the job.

**Usage Rights: The final purpose(s) for which a photograph or person's likeness may be used legally. The Diamond Productions Modeling & Talent Agency, LLC client agreement stipulates unlimited usage of the talent's likeness only for the original product or service for which the shoot was performed.

Voucher: A model’s time sheet, provided by Diamond Productions Modeling & Talent Agency, LLC, to be signed by the model and the studio manager or client at a photo shoot. Diamond Productions Modeling & Talent Agency, LLC will disperse a check to talent within five (5) working days of the date that Diamond Productions Modeling & Talent Agency, LLC receives full payment from the client, typically 30-60 days.

Weather Permit: If a confirmed booking is to occur out doors, it may be contingent upon the weather. Inclement weather may result in a cancellation or postponement with less than 24 hours notice, in which case you will be paid 50% of your full fee for that date.

You may see DPMATA in this list, but these terms apply to EVERY AGENCY and NOT just ours.

DJ AM Found Dead|

DJ AM was found dead in his New York City apartment on Friday. He was 36.

Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment,” reads a statement from AM’s rep. “The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time.”

Goldstein’s death comes almost a year after he survived a fiery Learjet crash on the runway of a South Carolina airport that claimed the lives of two other passengers and left him covered with second- and third-degree burns. Travis Barker, Goldstein’s frequent collaborator and partner in the hip-hop-rock duo TRV$DJAM, also survived the crash.

TMZ, citing a police source, reported that DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) was found in his apartment at 5:20 p.m. ET on Friday. Citing “sources,” the site also claimed that prescription medication bottles had been found near his body. The site said that friends who had previously gone to check on Goldstein had received no response. When police broke in the door, they reportedly found Goldstein’s body.

American Yard on Ms. Danyelle Radio

Ms. Danyelle will be chatting it up with, international trio, American Yard, consisting of two men and a woman, is a unique group of musically talented individuals who have combined their cultures to create a musical movement that consists of reggae, hip, hop, pop and jazz music. Often described as "The Fugees meets Black Eyed Peas mixed with City High", American Yard members Stacy-Ann, Stevie English and Blewz, have set themselves apart by creating an inimitable sound all their own.

Hailing from Long Island, Blewz, the sole American in the group, first blended his abilities with Jamaican songstress Stacy-Ann, which in lieu led them to working with Stevie English, who is from London. With all of them being accomplished solo performers in their own right, they decided to go with the old adage of "two heads are better than one", but revamping it by adding an extra cranium to the equation.

American Yard is signed to Konvict Muzik through Universal Motown/SRC, which is headed by Akon's younger brother Bu Thiam. Bu is known for working with artists such as Lil' Zane, T-Pain and Dolla. Serving as the co- CEO of Konvict Muzik, he works with Steve Rifkind and Sylvia Rhone to bring success to Konvict Muzik and Bu Vision through the pop super group American Yard.

Fans that are apart of the American Yard movement know the group by their distinguished logo, which is an A and a Y (AY), that give the effect of Japanese artwork or calligraphy. The logo assures a new AY craze as it is catchy to the eye and stamped on everything they do, even their clothing. As AY's popularity continues to grow, so will the merchandise and other marketing opportunities.

American Yard's debut, fun- loving single, "Yes We Did", which is currently featured on ITunes, gives the listening ear a break from all the heart retching monotony that usually floods the airwaves. The lyrics are visual and funny as the beat reminds you of a stress free day on vacation. By the end of the song, you are sure to be singing "No You Didn't, Yes We Did."

So Tune In Tonight at 11:30pm EST on Sirus XM 1014 or msdanyelleradio.iscool.net
